The first two novels in the Harry Potter series were fun and entertaining, but they hardly indicated just how very good the series was going to become. THE SORCERER’S STONE and THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS both had more in common with older kid’s adventure stories like the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew than anything. I cannot possibly communicate my admiration and respect for J. K. Rowling for not being content with producing merely a superior adventure story, just another yarn. In a review I recently wrote about the Harry Potter movies, I said that the first two movies, like the first two novels, were rather simple in their structure, pretty much of the “Gee! Let’s have a neat adventure!” variety. But beginning with THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN Rowling began to transform her series into something difference. The series shifted from being a series of “Neat Adventures” to being a grand epic reflecting the struggle between good and evil. While THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN doesn’t reach the heights of THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX and THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, it definitely marks a dramatic step forward both in quality and in ambitions.
There are very few series in the history of literature where you see a similar improvement in quality. The first two books were good, but THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN was very good, THE GOBLET OF FIRE even better, and THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX and subsequent books truly great. But this is the key novel. It introduced a seriousness and depth lacking in the first two books.
In case there are any human beings who have read only the first two novels but not this one and are wondering whether or not to push forward, be sure to keep reading. The books in the series truly do get better with each subsequent book.

What a great CD. This is my second copy! Rich, beautiful, magical….John Williams is a genius of our time.
Having seen all Harry Potter movies thru the Half Blood Prince, I decided it was time to read the books. Several had been given to me as gifts and others I purchased new recently from Amazon. I loved several of the movie music themes, especially the well-recognized Hedwig’s Theme. The original motion picture soundtrack CD is wonderful mood music to play in the background while reading Harry Potter books. I’ve read Books one thru seven and Beedle the Bard in a little over a month’s time. Kept me out of trouble – and I’m a “Senior Citizen.” The music is beautiful but, then, anything John Williams does usually is, e.g. Star Wars, etc.
John Williams continues to amaze me! This soundtrack is not only a worthy companion to the movie, but to the books as well. He captures all the magic of JK Rowling’s work at each and every turn.
Hedwig’s Theme, to me, should go down as one of the greatest music passages of all time. It’s so myterious and magnificiently magical. (That’s sort of corny, I know, but it’s true!)
Now here’s hoping he’s back for Deathly Hallows.
This CD is wonderful! I love John Williams’ work and the music definitely brings you into the world of Harry Potter!
My 6 year old loved this costume. She is short, so the robe came down to her feet. It’s very light weight, nylon or something similar, with the house badge printed on. The glasses look perfect on her. The wand was fun to wave around, but also the first thing she misplaced. A wand pocket would have been nice, or at least a wristband.
The specs say this product is for sizes 8-10 and says it’s good for kids up to 12 years of age. My daughter is 8 and it only comes down to her knees. I’d say it’s more for sizes 4-6. However, since it is a robe it’s not that big a deal. The robe is a lightweight material – good if it’s warm where you are on Halloween. The wands seems to be pretty durable as well as the clasp. It’s probably a better deal to the get this whole set for $30 than buy each thing individually.
My son loved his Harry Potter costume! Overall – excellent quality and value. Highly recommend.
I ordered this costume for Halloween this year for my obsessed four year old. Like in the other reviews, the wand is great since it’s large and not flimsy. I would like it to have a pocket for the wand inside the robe, and it would have looked a little nicer to have the maroon fabric sewn to the robe on the inside. The glasses are really cute, but I’m worried they won’t make it til Halloween, we’ll have to have Hermoine fix them for us…
As far as what size this “one size fits all” costume is, it’s about 36&1/2 inches long from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the robe. The sleeves are 19 inches long from the shoulder seam to finger tip. And the shoulder width is 14 inches wide. I hope this helps!
My 4yr old son is a BIG Harry Potter fan. He likes wearing robe but LOVES the wand. It’s thick plastic so durable for him to wave around to cast his spells.
We’ve had this for a while and my kids still play with it. They are 4 years old and are tough on toys. This broom looks like new and it gets played with at least once a week.
The item arrived very fast and in excellent conditions after being delivered to Canada. It’s a pity the high price of the shipping only. Great product for a quiditch beginner!
What more can I say, my niece adores the scarf. I could not tell a Hogwarts from a Hoggette (Redskin cheering section), but my niece can and she has given this product a big thumbs up. She wears it to high school and is is just the right size for a 16 year old.
Bought as a gift for my husband (a Harry Potter fan). He liked it but it is a little short.
I originally bought this scarf for a harry potter last book release party. It was used as part of my costume as one of the students. Everyone was asking where i got it and compliment me on it. I use it every time I need a scarf and every time i go out someone will ALWAYS say they like my scarf and want to know where I got it.
Out of all the scarfs I looked at online, this one seemed to be the best quality.
